Big Changes Coming to Arizona Powerball!

Sources suggest that the Double Play add-on for Powerball will soon be coming to the Grand Canyon state! The change comes as part of a major overhaul that will also affect a number of other AZ Lottery games. Let's take a look…

All About Double Play

Powerball Double Play is an optional add-on that enters your chosen numbers into an additional 'second-chance' style draw. Double Play costs an additional $1 per play, and cannot be played on its own – it has to be part of a regular Powerball ticket.

The prize tiers for Double Play line up exactly with the main Powerball prize categories. The lower six prize categories actually have a better prize for winning in the Double Play draw compared to the main Powerball draw, while the top three prize categories are either equal or higher for the main Powerball draw. The grand prize in Double Play is $10 million, which you can win by matching all five main numbers plus the Powerball number. It's also worth noting that the Power Play multiplier doesn't apply to Double Play prizes.

Coming Soon to Arizona

A source in the US Lottery sector has informed us that Double Play will soon be coming to Arizona, which would make it the 28th US state/jurisdiction to offer the add-on.

At this time, the current date for the first Arizona Double Play draw is June 15, as we understand. Will you be trying it out when it arrives?

What else is new in Arizona?

Arizona's Powerball Double Play is just part of a wider lottery shake-up. The AZ Lottery will also be introducing multiple daily draws for their Pick 3 game, adding a brand new Pick 4 game to their roster, and modifying The Pick, Arizona's state-exclusive jackpot game.

We expect these changes will prove popular, since of the four, three are adding new options and opportunities without changing or removing anything else. The changes to The Pick could prove controversial, although they involve improving the game's overall prize odds and adding an optional instant-win style add-on, both of which tend to be well received!
