Still No Winner As Powerball Jackpot Rises Towards $2 Billion
The wait for a Powerball jackpot win extended to a 46th consecutive draw on Monday night as nobody matched all the numbers to take home the extraordinary $1.586 billion that was on offer.
The jackpot is now set to soar to an estimated $1.7 billion for the next drawing on Christmas Eve, buoyed by a wave of strong ticket sales and a sense of hope from fans of the game across all participating states and jurisdictions.
Monday’s winning numbers were 3, 18, 36, 41 and 54, with a Powerball of 7. The Power Play was 2X. Although the jackpot was not won, more than 4.4 million tickets did earn a prize. There were nine tickets that matched all five main numbers without the Powerball, earning each player $1 million. These entries were sold in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New York (2), Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
One or two more rolls, or even a late surge of tickets this week, could propel the jackpot beyond the current record for the largest in Powerball history. That figure is $2.04 billion, which was paid out to Edwin Castro of California in November 2022.
The current jackpot ranks as the fourth-biggest of all time, having been climbing since two ticket holders split another 10-figure prize ($1.787 billion) on September 6. It all adds to the sense of excitement and anticipation that is always felt around Christmas time.
If you are lucky enough to beat the odds and win the next jackpot, you’ll have the choice between taking an annuity or a lump sum worth approximately $781.3 million. You’ll also be able to start thinking about all the fun ways you could spend such a vast amount of money.
To take part in Wednesday’s draw, pick up a ticket from a local retailer or choose your numbers online if the option is available to you. View the winning numbers as soon as they are available.
