Louisiana Man Wins $2 Million Powerball Prize When Buying a Pizza
Jhirmar Washington, a 34-year-old Vacherie, Louisiana man, is the latest Powerball winner to claim a Match 5 prize and is now $2 million richer, having added the Power Play option to his ticket for the drawing on October 7th, 2017.
Where was the Powerball ticket bought?
Washington, a frequent Powerball player, bought his winning ticket at Taylor’s Express, on Highway 3125 in Gramercy, whilst out with his cousin. “We went to Taylor’s to get her something to eat and left with pizza and a Powerball ticket,” he commented.
Washington admitted that he nearly skipped visiting the store, but his cousin said that she was hungry. He also mentioned that he may have forgotten about the ticket, until he heard that there was a winning ticket sold in the area, “I didn’t even think about it until six or seven Sunday night when I saw the big winning ticket was bought at Taylor’s.”
What were the winning numbers for the Powerball drawing on October 7th?
The winning numbers were 10, 49, 61, 63, 65, Powerball 7 and the Power Play was 2x. Washington was the only Match 5 winner in the drawing and was just the Powerball number short of the jackpot prize. You can view the prizes and payouts for October 7th on the Powerball Numbers page.
What will the Powerball winnings be spent on?
Washington will receive $1.4 million after taxes, and he has chosen to invest his winnings. Taylor’s Express will also receive a vendor’s bonus of $20,000 for selling the winning ticket.
