Single Ticket Holder Wins $487 Million Powerball Jackpot

Where was the winning ticket sold? 

The winning ticket was sold at Hannaford Supermarket, located at 2 Freetown Rd, in Raymond. The winning numbers for Saturday July 30th were 11, 17, 21, 23, 32, and the Powerball, 5. The Power Play number was 2x. There were nearly 3 million prize winners in the drawing and 15 players matched five main numbers to win $1 million. One of these players correctly chose the Power Play option, which increased their winnings to $2 million. Bill Shaheen of Shaheen & Gordon law firm claimed the prize for the New Hampshire winner. They said that the winner chose the cash-lump sum payment of $256.3 million after federal taxes and created the Robin Egg 2016 Nominee Trust. 

Bill made an announcement on behalf of the winners, saying: 

"As is evident from our involvement, the winners would like to preserve their anonymity. At this point in time, they are committed to using these funds for philanthropic causes and to make a positive impact on the lives of their family. They feel truly blessed to win this prize — but also realize a serious obligation and responsibility to give back with winning this amount of money. In order to accomplish this goal, we kindly ask you to respect their privacy, as the task in front of them is monumental."

In addition to the jackpot winnings, the Hannaford Supermarket will also receive a bonus of $75,000. They have decided to donate the money to a few charitable organizations, such as food banks, pantries, and youth organizations. 

Big Powerball Jackpots 

The recent win is the tenth Powerball jackpot won in the state of New Hampshire. It is the biggest jackpot since the record-breaking $1.5 billion jackpot, which was won on January 13th, 2016, by three ticket holders. The largest prize ever won on a single Powerball ticket remains the $590.5 million jackpot, won by Gloria Mackenzie in Florida on May 18th, 2013.
