Powerball Jackpot Is Now in Top 3 Largest Prizes

The third-largest Powerball jackpot in history could be won this Saturday night after it rolled over for the 36th time. The grand prize hasn’t been won since April 19.

The winning numbers for the Wednesday, July 12 draw were 23, 35, 45, 66, 67, and the red Powerball number was 20. The Power Play multiplier was 3X. Although no one won the jackpot, two lucky winners matched five numbers and got £1 million each. In total, there were 1,880,532 winners, so make sure to check your tickets and see if you won anything.

With every draw, the jackpot takes bigger leaps as more tickets are being sold. On Wednesday, the jackpot went from approximately $750 million to $875 million.

Jackpots that made history

If won in Saturday's draw, this jackpot will be the third-largest prize ever won in Powerball’s history.

The second-largest prize was won in January 2016 by John and Lisa Robinson from Munford in Tennessee, David Kaltschmidt and Maureen Smith from Melbourne Beach in Florida, and Marvin and Mae Acosta from Chino Hills in California. They won $1.58 billion and shared the cash option of $983.5 million.

The biggest prize was won in November last year by Edwin Castro from California. He won $2.04 billion and went for the cash option of $997.6 million.

So what happens if someone matches all numbers on Saturday? After claiming their prize, the jackpot winner can also choose between annuity and cash. If they go for the annuity option, the prize will be spread over 29 years, with every payment increasing by 5% each year. In case the winner decides to take the lump sum, the cash value of this prize will be approximately $441.9 million.
