Texas Powerball Winner Claims $410 Million Prize

Texas Powerball Winner Claims $410 Million Prize

Both shares of the $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot of September 6th have now been claimed! The Seven Bridges Revocable Trust, preserving the anonymity of the winner, has claimed the prize on their behalf and released a statement through the Texas Lottery. Let's take a look…

How The Lucky Numbers Were Chosen

The winner's representative explained that the player usually used random numbers for their lottery plays, but on this occasion decided to use some picks with personal meaning behind them. However, once the ticket was printed out, they realized that one of the numbers wasn't the one they meant to choose!

In the end, the winning numbers were 11-23-44-61-62, and 17 for the Powerball. These numbers were also chosen by a player in Missouri, who claimed their half of the prize towards the end of September.

The winning ticket was purchased at Big's 103, 11905 E. US Highway 290, and the retailer was awarded a $250,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The Winner's Statement

While driving to church the morning after the draw, the winner checked their ticket and realized it had won the jackpot. They pulled over to check a few more times, stashed the ticket in the glovebox for safekeeping, and continued on to church.

The Seven Bridges Revocable Trust released the following statement from the winner:

"We are Texans true to the state and its values. We believe in family, in faith, and in the blessings that come through both. This is a moment of gratitude for us, a blessing we plan to enjoy and share with those who are special to us and who serve our community. We ask for privacy as we look forward to enjoying our lives together as a family. God bless Texas."

It's clear that this winner's faith is important to them. We can only imagine what might have been running through their head in church on that Sunday morning, or the content of their prayers. They've certainly got a lot to be thankful for: $311 million after tax, for a start!

How's Powerball Looking Now?

On the night the second-biggest Powerball jackpot was won, the grand prize had rolled up for 42 drawings - the longest a Powerball jackpot has ever gone without being won - and was the biggest prize ever won in Texas.

In comparison, the current jackpot is at 16 rollovers and is valued at $273 million for Wednesday's upcoming draw. It's not breaking any records (yet) but that's a phenomenal prize regardless!
