Delight in Delaware As Powerball Jackpot of $230.8 Million Is Won
A Powerball player from Delaware enjoyed a spectacular Easter Weekend as they landed a jackpot of $230.8 million in Monday night’s drawing, making them the third winner of the top prize already in 2026.
For the third time this year, the jackpot moved past $200 million but did not go as high as $300 million, following previous successes for ticket holders in North Carolina and Arkansas.
On this occasion it was Delaware’s turn to take the spotlight, as someone from the First State matched the numbers 7, 24, 37, 42 and 57, with a Powerball of 5. Go to the Payouts page to see all the draw details from April 6, including a breakdown of all the prizes won. As well as the jackpot winner, a ticket holder from Texas picked up $2 million after adding the Power Play option and matching the five main numbers without the Powerball.
No further details were announced about the jackpot-winning ticket from Delaware immediately after the draw, and it may be that their identity is never revealed as winners in the state are allowed to stay anonymous.
They have one year from the draw date to come forward and claim their prize, and must decide whether to take the money as an annuity or a lump-sum payment of $104.9 million.
It is the largest lottery jackpot to have ever been won in Delaware, surpassing the $214 million that went to a group of 33 co-workers from a printing company in Seaford in October 2004.
Big Wins in 2026
The jackpot had been growing since a player from Arkansas pocketed $250.8 million in the Powerball draw on March 2. The winner purchased their ticket through a lottery courier and opted to stay anonymous when they claimed their prize last week.
The Arkansas winner selected the cash option of $118 million, and will end up taking home around $69.78 million after all federal and state taxes are withheld.
The first Powerball jackpot to be won this year, worth $209 million, was also claimed anonymously after a North Carolina player matched all the numbers on January 21.
Will the run of wins continue into the rest of spring or will a larger jackpot begin to build? Find out by keeping tabs on the latest winning numbers after every draw. The jackpot is back at $20 million ahead of the next draw.
