31 Powerball States To Launch New Millionaire for Life Game
The first ever Millionaire for Life draw is only a few days away, a drawing which marks 31 Powerball states adding a new and exciting draw game to their available games. The drawing happens this Sunday February 22nd, 2026, and offers lottery players a top prize of $1 million per year for life, and a second prize of $100,000 per year for life.
The debut drawing has been on the horizon for many weeks, but now the curtain is about to be pulled, with many lottery players across the United States likely to take part in its first ever event.
How Millionaire for Life Could Change the United States Lottery
But what is the significance of so many states adding a single jackpot draw game? States launch brand new games all the time, don’t they? Sure, but those are usually state-specific games. Millionaire for Life differs massively because it is a multi-state lottery with a huge jackpot. With tens of states taking part, it’s quite a rare event. Here are some reasons why it could change the nature of the United States lottery:
1. It Doesn’t Happen Often
The frequency of new multi-state draw games introductions is not high. This is because the process is complex, requiring coordination between numerous state lotteries, as well as approval from lottery regulators and boards. So, for 31 states to launch a new draw game like this, is quite historical in United States lottery history, altering its landscape and changing what’s familiar.
2. It Marks the End of Older Lifetime Games
The inauguration of Millionaire for Life also marks the end of two significant draw games — Lucky for Life and Cash4Life — both of which are warm and familiar faces for countless lottery players. Lucky for Life is available in states like Montana and Massachusetts, and will have its final drawing on February 21st, 2026. Cash4Life is also a significant game which is played in New York, New Jersey, and others…but only for a couple more days. Its final draw is also on February 21st, 2026.
3. It Introduces A ‘Younger Player Appeal’
Millionaire for Life’s prize tiers have been named the ‘for-life prizing’ that younger players gravitate towards. Tom Seaver, the game’s chair (and also senior director of the Colorado Lottery) says, “Imagine winning $1 million a year, year after year — this game is designed to deliver on its name.” Hard to argue with that, Tom. Could Millionaire for Life reshape the United States lottery to appeal more to young players, bringing in the new generation? Not long now before we find out.
How to Play Millionaire for Life
Millionaire for Life is a five number draw game where you pick five main numbers from 1 to 58, plus a Millionaire Ball from 1 to 5. The goal is to match as many numbers to the ones drawn in the game as you can.
Original, isn’t it?
Well, no. But the prize potential is life-changing to say the least. Plus, the odds of winning are even better than Powerball (the probability of winning any prize is 1 in 8.47). It also introduces a fixed prize rate, so you always know what you’re playing for. Plus, there are no add-ons, multipliers, or any other jazz notes like that. Millionaire for Life has a consistent ticket price of $5 a game.
Where to Play Millionaire for Life
