Powerball Jackpot Hits $600 Million As UK Launch Boosts Sales

It is the highest jackpot of 2026, following a steady flow of winners through the first part of the year. The jackpot was most recently won on May 2 when two ticket holders - one from Texas and one from Florida - split $20 million.

The jackpot had built up to $544.9 million by the time of Monday’s drawing, then pushed on to $569.8 million for Wednesday’s game. The numbers drawn were 4, 5, 22, 50 and 58, with a Powerball of 1. The Power Play multiplier was 3X, trebling the value of payouts for participants who had added this option.

There were more than 622,000 prizes paid out across the U.S., plus 87,698 in the UK after tickets went on sale across the Atlantic for the first time on Tuesday. Go to the Powerball Numbers page for July 22 to view a breakdown of the payouts for each state, jurisdiction or country. 

The UK’s numbers in the first draw were the result of around 1.2 million ticket sales. A portion of each ticket sold goes towards the shared jackpot, so it is a good indication for upcoming draws that Powerball is already proving popular in the UK as it will help to drive up the top prize more quickly.

It is worth remembering that the UK version of Powerball works a bit differently - apart from the shared jackpot, the rest of the prize fund is kept separate and the UK National Lottery will administer its own payouts. 

Powerball is still exactly the same for U.S. players, except that the jackpot should grow faster and there may occasionally be winners from the UK. The odds of winning the jackpot are identical for every player, regardless of where they buy their tickets, and the UK’s arrival in the game does not alter your own chances.

Some states have traditionally fared better than others, and you can see a table ranking all the participating locations on the Powerball Winners page. If you find that your home state is low on the list, don’t rush out to visit a retailer in a luckier neighbor state - the most likely reason is that your state has a lower population or joined Powerball at a later date.

With the jackpot so high and three draws a week, the rate of ticket sales is only likely to accelerate until there is a winner and it may not be long before the $1 billion mark is hit for the first time this year. Make sure to pick up a ticket before the next draw and check the winning numbers as soon as possible afterwards.
