There are nine ways to win a Powerball Prize. The one everyone wants to win is the Powerball jackpot. To do that you need to match all five main numbers AND the Powerball. For the other ways to win a prize, please take a look at the tables below which show each prize, along with the odds of winning it and the estimated prize.
In some States you can opt to pay for a Power Play Number which will increase the prize payout for any win less than the Jackpot (see second table).
The prizes on offer in each prize tier are set prizes, with the exception of the jackpot which is pari-mutuel (meaning it is made up of a percentage of the prize fund).
The table below shows you the prizes available for the numbers matched, plus the odds of winning.
|All 5 numbers plus Powerball||1 in 175,223,510||Jackpot|
|All 5 numbers||1 in 5,153,632.64||$ 1 million|
|4 numbers plus Powerball||1 in 648,975.96||$10,000|
|4 numbers||1 in 19,087.52||$100|
|3 numbers plus Powerball||1 in 12,244.82||$100|
|3 numbers||1 in 360.14||$7|
|2 numbers plus Powerball||1 in 706.43||$7|
|1 number plus Powerball||1 in 110.81||$4|
|Powerball only||1 in 55.40||$4|
The overall odds of winning a prize on the Powerball is 31.85.
In addition to the main prizes, players also have the chance to increase their winnings by opting to include Power Play for a small additional fee. This option increases all non-jackpot or Match 5 winnings by a multiple of 2, 3, 4 or 5 depending on which Power Play number is drawn.
